Silhouettes “ if a certain lager company was to make Lambretta clubs this would probably be the best in the world”.
Originally an offshoot created from the re-nowned Scunthorpe Road Rats in the early 1980’s the club was reborn in 1987 after a trip to a Northern soul night held at the Bentley Pavilion, Doncaster Friends Dave Kirk, Steve Baxter and Col Westfield had the idea of re-starting the club.
As the club grew they attended many a national and local rallies joining at times with Hull clubs to organise their own rallies with a member base of around 20.
Meetings in those days was on Sundays but the ever increasing closure of pubs and hotels the venue and day changed to Wednesday evening’s in 2002 to the Beefeater Pub (now the Queensway), Scunthorpe. Present times linking with other scooter clubs in the area to enjoy ride out’s through the summer months across the county, although the ride home sometimes resembles the cartoon “wacky races” with many a member in the club owning TS1 or RB tuned Lambretta’s there’s often at least one casualty at the side of the road to the amusement of all the other members but the friendship created through the mutual love of Lambretta’s is second to none with someone always on hand to lend you that spare or help with a lift home.
With many a scooter boy finding their youth again in later years the club has now risen to over 60 members, with some very high quality restoration and custom Lambretta’s among the club.
If any lambretta owners in North Lincolnshire would like to come along to the Queensway pub at 7pm on a Wednesday evening for a chat or a ride then all are welcome. For any more details about the club Dave Kirk can be contacted on 07737843437or email: david.kirk12@virginmedia.comor take a look at our website http://www.scunnysilhouettes.com/index.html .
